About Me

A bit about me

I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Marie, and I am an experienced independent social worker. I gained my Social Work qualification in 2009 and have extensive experience in Adult Social Care, including expertise in various areas such as safeguarding, hospital settings, locality teams, mental capacity assessments, continuing healthcare assessments, and court-related work, including the Court of Protection.

I am passionate about the work I carry out with individuals and their families and am proud of my commitment to delivering high-quality work.Adopting a professional approach and maintaining attention to detail are valuable assets in my practice, particularly when working on complex cases involving safeguarding and mental capacity issues.
My motivation for becoming an independent social worker and specialising in conducting mental capacity assessments came from witnessing the challenges families face when dealing with delays in obtaining mental capacity assessments for Court of Protection (COP) applications or Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) processes, largely due to reluctance from GPs or social services when requested to carry these out.I have observed the significant challenges families face when a loved one is suspected of losing capacity. These challenges often arise when families need to apply to the Court of Protection or for a Lasting Power of Attorney to act on behalf of their loved one. The process requires mental capacity assessments and the completion of COP3 documentation, which can be a source of stress and frustration for families. Delays in obtaining these assessments can hinder families’ ability to manage their loved one’s finances and welfare effectively. These delays often exacerbate the emotional and logistical difficulties families are already experiencing. Why does my service differ from others?I wanted to offer a more affordable and cost-effective service compared to some larger organisations offering similar capacity assessments and COP3 documentation. Larger organisations often have higher costs per assessment, so my aim is to provide the same service at a more affordable rate.I am also committed to completing assessments promptly and can prioritise urgent cases, completing work within two to three days when necessary, or within 5–7 days of initial contact for standard cases.I aim to continue providing high-quality assessments for individuals requiring support, including mental capacity assessments and COP3 forms, as part of my professional practice. Please feel free to contact me if my service is of interest to you, and I will be more than happy to discuss this further.
